3095 Living at the confluence of the Benue and Niger Rivers in Nigeria, the Idoma people artistically, achieved a reputation for their female fecundity figures and masks with white kaolin-covered faces. White-faced masks are used by the Idoma primarily for funerals. The veneration and protective importance of ancestors is perhaps the most prominent aspect of Idoma culture.
