3075 This is an extremely characteristic model of the Ngumba ancestor figure - the elongated body, slender torso and ample head. The lower part of the body is heavy, with powerful rounded thighs and buttocks, as likely were the calves at some stage. They have been badly eroded as have the feet and the typical plinth, which usually emerges from under the buttocks. In its place, a long nail has been left as a substitute stabilizer. A decidedly representative feature is the lavish use of brass incrustations.
